Moodboard

This is the moodboard that my team and I made in order to make our music video look more cohesive depending on the mood and context of scenes. This moodboard was made by my teammates (Beatrice and Rachelle) and I.

My teammate, Beatrice, wrote this as an explanation to how this moodboard could help us even further in the project:

Through this mood board, it clearly conveys that the type of music video we want to create will have a cheerful, fun, and energetic vibe. With both actresses being female, we plan to incorporate activities that typically appeal to teenage girls / young women, showing how the world looks from a female perspective. We're also planning on including some high school scenes, as our theme centers around friendship, which is something that resonates with many of young people. These scenes are incorporated to engage our audience by reflecting activities they might enjoy or relate to in real life Activities like sitting at the back of the class chatting about shared interests, studying, traveling, and taking photos together, are all activities that we believe teenage girls will highly associate with. Furthermore, the beginning scenes will feature warmer colour tones as it connotes the warmth of friendship. However, towards the end, we'll gradually shift to cooler colour tones to reflect the bittersweet feelings that come with parting ways, as the narrative follows friends who are preparing to graduate and go their separate paths. As seen in the mood board, we decided to film in different locations, such as field, school, and beach, to provide larger varieties of scenes to keep the visuals fresh and engaging, ensuring the music video remains interesting rather than repetitive.

Self-reflection:

This moodboard was actually one of the most interesting and fun things to make in this project! I had helped to add some images onto the moodboard through searching the images from a website called Pinterest which usually has a bunch of inspiring images. Using this moodboard helped to centralise the vision we had for certain scenes (mainly the  hanging out scene, school scenes and fight scenes). This was especially useful because we all had ideas and concepts in our minds for the scenes, however words wouldn’t do justice in describing them. This moodboard helped to picture our ideas in a more specific way, allowing us to decide the colour-grading, composition and overall vibes of the scenes. While making this moodboard, we also discussed with one another and came up with more ideas for the scenes. This moodboard motivated us to think more creatively as sometimes, coming up with ideas solely from imagination can be hard, especially since we are prone to forgetting the ideas if they aren’t noted down in detail, preventing further development. This moodboard also helped to give us location ideas for where we could film certain scenes, based on the common themes of the moodboard. I think that making a moodboard is definitely essential for this project and I’m looking forward to make one again in the future!
