These are the initial ideas and proposal we made to solidify our general ideas for the direction of our music video.
Please scroll down to see our more finalized version of the Statement of Intent, where we wrote the information in more detail after starting the project and solidifying the ideas we had in our mind.
Self-reflection:
Making this Statement of Intent was actually a very lengthy process. Although we were supposed to finish it a couple weeks into the project before we started producing everything, it was very difficult to complete and finalize details because we didn’t want to commit to an idea too quickly. We actually finished this Statement of Intent halfway through the project. I personally dreaded working on this Statement of Intent because I was scared of having regrets in the future due to the details of the music video that we chose to commit to. We made a lot of changes from the first version of the Statement of Intent because I especially felt as if it wasn’t detailed enough and may cause misunderstandings if it was too vague, making our production process less streamlined. I contributed mainly by developing the target demographic and psychographic for the project as well as developing the details for the stars of the music video. I changed a few things for the demographic, making males a secondary target audience because they may also relate to the experience of the stars, regardless of if the gender of the stars are different. In addition, I brainstormed some name ideas for the stars which I put in a “Music Video: Production, Research and Development” blogpost. I also developed the personalities of the stars further by looking at what we had in the storyboard and lyrics sheet. By looking at them, I developed the personalities of the stars in a way which would reflect why the problem that will be shown in the music video happened in the first place. I also tried to make the stars seem like Binary Opposites (by Levi Strauss) which would mean that Viola and Jasmine would reflect a conflict between being closed and open minded. I think that the work that we did for the Statement of Intent is detailed enough now so I hope there won’t be any gaps in the information which will result in misunderstandings and mistakes during the filming and editing process of the music video.
