Preliminary Research

Here is the preliminary research I did into a few music videos before starting the project.

Self-reflection:

This preliminary research helped me a lot to decide which genre to use for the music video. By briefly researching music videos from many different genres, I was able to observe the different conventions used typically for each genre. Since my group and I already have a certain vision in mind for the style of music video we are going for, watching the music videos helped us narrow down which song genre would best embody our visions for the music video. In this case, we chose to go with indie pop. In my opinion, I definitely wanted to go in this direction because I wanted to try to communicate the message of a song in a way which recreated the lyrics visually, allowing the audience to be immersed in the connotations of the song as they will be interpreted in the music video so that it will be easily understood and clearly portrayed.
