Storyboard

This storyboard was made in order to visualize our ideas and make the filming process easier since we already have a intended direction for the scene. This storyboard was made by my teammate, Rachelle, after finishing the lyrics sheet.

This is a quote from my teammate, Rachelle, who made this storyboard in regards to why there may be a quality difference in some scenes of the storyboard:

"This was honestly one of the most fun parts of the project. I myself enjoy drawing a lot, so I was really delighted to be doing this task. At the start, I wanted to give details to each storyboard, but found that this took too long. So, I decided to just go with the usual simple storyboard with brief explanations."

After showing this storyboard to our Media Studies teacher, Mr Nick, he had given us some feedback. He told us that the fighting scene was too abrupt and didn't have enough context so the audience may not understand and be confused about the storyline of the music video. To fix this, we will be adding some changes to the storyboard and we will add a clarifying scene before the fight scene. Here are some examples of ideas he gave for us to try:

- Jasmine is packing up to leave for graduation and Viola is watching from the back in her room, dissatisfied, and maybe nagging Jasmine and complaining about her decision in leaving to a different country for university.

- A photograph of both the artists (Jasmine and Viola) being put in the luggage too with a heavy heart, symbolizing the bond and relationship that will be sacrificed and left behind.

Our teacher also drew this little example image of a scene where both artists lipsync apart from each other, signifying a growing distance before the inevitable separation after graduation. I think that it is a great idea and we'll definitely try to modify the storyboard to have a scene like this:

Self-reflection:

I think that this storyboard made by Rachelle was amazing! At first, I was planning to help her out a bit with the storyboard but she was really amazing and finished it so quickly on her own. I think that what we annotated on the lyrics sheet really reflected onto this storyboard. I especially liked how the idea I came up with for the scenes 9.1 to 10.1 came out and it looked exactly how I imagined it when I added it to the lyrics sheet. I do think though that especially since this is a storyboard and we haven’t actually tried to check if we could do certain scenes exactly like the storyboard, we may potentially need to revise the storyboard if it isn’t realistic. I think that the most challenging scene to record will be scene 1.1 with the birds flying since the birds aren’t something we are able to control and it really comes down to luck. Because of this, we also may not be able to retake the shots for this scene and we may need to potentially scrap this idea even though it is a really good one in my opinion. I think that really discussing our ideas together (Rachelle and I) really helped this storyboard to come out exactly as imagined. As I mentioned earlier in the reflection for the lyrics sheet, the actual annotations didn’t come out as detailed because we spent the majority of the time brainstorming ideas while having a verbal communication in person which unfortunately wasn’t recorded, something I’d like to improve on in the future. In the end, this storyboard is very clear and I think that using this, we’ll be able to make the recording process a lot quicker and efficient since we already know what camera angles and movements to use.
